Desert Pines Golf Club - Course Description
While in Vegas, take a journey deep into to the American South and enjoy a touch of the Carolina pines in Las Vegas. Perry Dye and his team designed what is often referred to as “The Pinehurst of Las Vegas,” at the Desert Pines Golf Club. The staff carries through on this theme with all the Southern hospitality any golfer could want. The course was recognized as Best New Upscale Course by Golf Digest when it opened in 1997.
Thousands of mature pines tree line the fairways with water coming into play on 9 of the 18 holes and white sand bunkers protect large, undulating greens patterned after those at Augusta National. Fairways of Bermuda grass and Greens of Tiff-Eagle make for excellent year-round conditions. The course features strategic greenside bunkering and mounding, and each hole is nicely separated from others by mounding and mature pines.
Desert Pines is a locals’ favorite and usually a little cooler in the summer than many other courses. It is an unexpected experience for many visitors to Las Vegas who are delighted to play in a pine forest with views of the Las Vegas skyline coming into view throughout the course.
The Desert Pines Practice Center is the area’s only two-tiered facility featuring automatic ball delivery so golfers needn’t bend over to tee-up each new up ball. The Center also features climate control so even in the heat of the mid-afternoon or on the coldest day, the temperatures are made more comfortable. Lit for nighttime practice, the Center is open until 10:00 p.m.
And before or after your round you can enjoy libations and great food at Duffer’s Grill located within the Desert Pines clubhouse.
