Royal Links Golf Club - Course Description
Royal Links Golf Club was built for those who believe golf is more than just a game. It was built for those whose passion is golf. At Royal Links immerse yourself in the rich tradition and lore of golf, while testing your skills on 18 of the best holes from 11 different British Open rotation courses.
Begin your historic golf adventure at the iron-gated entryway. Past the gate and around a slight bend, feel the excitement build as a timeless Scottish-style castle comes into view. The scenic drive includes the vast openness of the links style golf course, with the Las Vegas skyline in the background. Your journey to another time and place includes full service valets to assist with your equipment and fill in the details of the Royal Links experience.
In the castle-styled clubhouse, every detail is designed to replicate the birthplace of golf. Artwork throughout depicts the tradition of golf in Scotland. The interior circular entryway incorporates stained glass windows that reflect natural daylight onto an unmatched collection of golf memorabilia. The collection of items on display is worth over $2 million and is a must-see for anyone interested in the inception and history of the game of golf. Even the golf shop has an old world feel with dark, rich woods and ornate 19th century decor. Essential modern conveniences such as computers and phones are the only hint of the 21st century.
‘Larger than life’ views of traditional Scotland are numerous in the art and photography at Royal Links Clubhouse. If one of these scenes draws your favor, it may be purchased. Individual art prices range from $8,000 to over $20,000. The only catch? Most art pieces on display are up to twenty feet wide and over ten feet tall! Buy a piece or two for your own castle!
After checking in, pass through the golf shop and onto the course where the game begins. Find yourself deep in golf tradition as you tee-up on such holes as the “Road Hole” and “Hell Bunker” from the old course at St. Andrews and the “Postage Stamp” from Royal Troon. Give it your best at Carnoustie, Turnberry, Royal Liverpool, Prestwick, Royal Lytham, Muirfield and Royal Birkdale, and other legendary courses. At strategic locations throughout the Royal Links course monuments have been placed to commemorate some of the great moments in British Open history. A Champions Wall near the practice green honors American champions of the British Open. At the 9th tee, an English style call box is available where golfers can order a tasty lunch as they make the turn, or have lunch delivered to them on the course.
Adding to the authenticity of the Scottish golfing experience, professional forecaddies are available and should be booked in advance of play. Because many Royal Links holes are truly Scottish in design and flair, forecaddies are invaluable to point out hidden bunkers and hazards. The caddies are also extremely knowledgeable about the course layout and the history of each hole. Forecaddies work as independent contractors and their service gratuity is customarily expected upon completion of the round.
The Royal Links Golf Club is a unique experience in every sense of the word. It is a transition to another time and place through the sheer enjoyment of golf. Cheers!
Forecaddies are not required but highly recommended and available upon request.
