Desert Pines Golf Club - Course Description
The Desert Pines Golf Club is a journey deep into the elegance and tradition of golf in the American South. Replicating the grandeur and stature of Carolina pines in a deep south setting this Perry Dye course specializes in downright friendly southern hospitality. The course was recognized as ‘Best New Upscale Course’ by Golf Digest when it opened in 1997.
Thousands of mature pines tree line the fairways with water coming into play on 9 of the 18 holes. White sand bunkers protect large, undulating greens patterned after those at Augusta National. Fairways of Bermuda grass and greens of Tiff-Eagle provide excellent year-round conditions. With greenside bunkering and mounding, each hole is comfortably separated from the others by meticulously landscaped mounds and mature pines.
Desert Pines Golf Club is a locals’ favorite and because of the towering pines the temperatures are usually a little cooler in the summer than at other courses in the area. Visitors expecting to find only desert landscapes at Las Vegas courses are often amazed and delighted to play golf in the pine forests of Desert Pines. And the views between the pines throughout the course reveal the spectacular Las Vegas skyline.
Improve your game at the full service Desert Pines Practice Center. This state-of-art layout is the area’s only two-tiered, climate controlled, practice facility. Forget about bending over to place balls on the tee. The automatic ball delivery system instantly replaces each new ball saving your back and allowing you to concentrate on your swing, grip and alignment . Even in the heat of the mid-afternoon or on the coldest day, practice at the Center is comfortable and convenient. With ample good vision lighting for nighttime practice, the Center is open until 10:00 p.m. (later in the summer).
Before or after your round enjoy libations and great food at Duffer’s Grill located in the Desert Pines clubhouse. You might even want to order a frosty mint julep for the occasion. Desert Pines Golf Club, a touch of the Carolina pines in the desert. Y’all come on over!
